Houston-based Prison Break Tattoos is a unique tattoo shop: it employs artists who have a special connection to first responders allowing them to provide meaningful tattoos for their fellow lifesavers.

In a new 12-episode unscripted series, A&E’s Hero Ink follows the daily happenings at Prison Break Tattoos, gathering stories and considering the moments that have had a profound impact on both the artists’ and the client’s lives.

Prison Break Tattoos owner BK Klev, a 25-year veteran of the Houston police department, matches each client with the artist he feels will connect with them best and help them tell their story through a unique tattoo.

Featured artists in the show include Rich, who served in the New York Police Department for 11 years; military wife Janice Danger; former Marine “Tony 4 Fingers;” Zoey, who was rescued by police as a child; and current Houston firefighter, Robbie.

In the premiere episode, Sgt. Sean “Sticks” Larkin, from A&E’s hit series Live PD, stops by to get a special tattoo to commemorate his decades of service. Other stories include tributes to service animals, first responders who risked everything to help others on September 11, and heroes who came together to protect people and property from natural disasters.

Hero Ink is produced by Matador Content for A&E Network. Executive producers for Matador Content are Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, Brian Nashel, and Jerry Carita. Elaine Frontain Bryant, Amy Savitsky, and Devon Graham Hammonds serve as executive producers for A&E.

Hero Ink premieres Thursday, June 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT with back-to-back episodes.
