In celebration of this Wednesday’s Live in Front of a Studio Audience, ABC is “retro-fitting” its airwaves to transport viewers back to the ‘70s.

That includes retro promos for shows like The Rookie, Stumptown and A Million Little Things, which will feature the classic television 4:3 ratio, throwback voiceovers, graphics, music, and title treatments that were used in the 1970s.

To achieve the look, ABC resurrected the network’s logo and graphic packages from 1975, ABC Entertainment and Walt Disney Studios marketing president Shannon Ryan told Variety.

“The team went through so many classic TV spots from the ’70s for inspiration,” she said. “We pulled promos for Charlie’s Angels and Hart to Hart that served as inspiration for Stumptown. Starsky & Hutch, The Streets of San Francisco, Kojak and The Rookies inspired The Rookie spot. Marcus Welby, M.D. inspired The Good Doctor promo.

The throwback promos will air throughout the live TV special, which is recreating episodes of All in the Family and Good Times with modern cast members like Kevin Bacon, Ike Barinholtz, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Ellie Kemper, Justina Machado and Marisa Tomeif for All in the Family and Asante Blackk, Andre Braugher, Viola Davis, Corinne Foxx, Tiffany Haddish, Jharrel Jerome and Jay Pharoah tackling the roles in Good Times.

Live in Front of a Studio Audience premieres Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 8 p.m.
