“If you have a lead, you have a suspect … he’s out there; we’re going to find him.”
That’s according to a WGN America teaser for crime series The Disappearance, focusing on a boy who goes missing, and the search that shakes a close-knit community to its core.
The series stars Peter Coyote (Bitter Moon, Sphere) as Henry Sullivan, who organizes a treasure hunt for his grandson Anthony’s (Michael Riendeau) tenth birthday. Things take a turn for the worse when he unexpectedly disappears.
The story follows Luke Sullivan (Aden Young, Rectify, Killer Elite) and Helen Murphy Sullivan (Camille Sullivan, The Man in the High Castle) as they delve into an investigation of what happened to their son. As the Sullivans and their extended kin grapple with the inexplicable mystery, deep familial secrets become uncovered and threaten to shatter the family unit.
Three teasers focus on an empty party at a park, the discovery of an abandoned bike, and the start of the search for the missing boy.
The Disappearance is created and written by Normand Daneau (Unité 9, Niagara Motel) and Geneviève Simard, and directed by Peter Stebbings (Defendor, Orphan Black). Joanne Forgues (Série noire, Le Clan, Les Invincibles), Sophie Parizeau (Terreur 404) and Jean-Marc Casanova (Série noire) serve as executive producers of the series. The series is produced by Productions Casablanca in association with Bell Media and NBCUniversal International Studios.
The six-episode series premieres July 12 on WGN America.
