When it comes to all things Netflix, the streaming service can be pretty secretive about its inner workings—especially when it comes to ratings and who’s watching its shows.

That’s what makes Wednesday’s interview in The Hollywood Reporter with Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, all the more interesting.

Holland opens up about the service’s development process, whether it will shift towards ordering pilots, and who really is watching its original shows. The entire thing is worth the read, but here are five key takeaways from Holland’s interview.

1. “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards” don’t share the same audience:

“There’s some overlap but surprisingly little,” Holland told the mag. The service aims to reach one segment of its subscriber base with at least one of its original programs.

2. Netflix will neither confirm nor deny interest in Chelsea Handler.

“I don’t think any genres are off-limits to us,” Holland said, while emphasizing that the company’s focus is still serialized half-hour and hour series.

3. “Orange is the New Black” remains the service’s top show, despite all the hype around season two of “House of Cards.”

“That’s right,” Holland said, when asked if “OITNB” is still tops like it was last year—all without revealing any viewership metrics.

4. Although Netflix hasn’t cancelled a show yet, the time wIll eventually come.

“They can’t last forever,” Holland said, noting that a departing creative team or “if the investment required outweighs the subscribers and the viewing hours we predict for the series” could lead to an eventual cancellation.

5. The biggest misconception about Netflix is that it doesn’t give notes.

Holland said that it’s true her team has a light touch, and “we hire our showrunners and directors with the same mindset.”
