Tribune Broadcasting has appointed Brian Dollenmayer as its new EVP of marketing and promotions, Tribune said on Wednesday. Dollenmayer will develop and oversee marketing and promotional strategies and any creative service activities for WGN America, along with the division’s 23 television stations, including Antenna TV and THIS TV.
Dollenmayer begins his duties on September 9 where he will report to Matt Cherniss, WGN America’s president and GM, and to Larry Wert, president of Broadcast Media.
According to Cherniss, as the company begins to push “Salem,” its new scripted program debuting next year, Tribune is in need of an executive with specific marketing expertise.
“He’s been associated with some of the most successful shows on television and understands how to mount an effective promotional campaign that creates buzz and delivers audience from day one,” said Cherniss in a statement.
Wert said Dollenmayer has a creative and strategic approach for marketing and promotions and will be what the company needs since Tribune has now “expanded news coverage, original programming and great syndicated content launching this fall in several markets.”
Prior to Tribune, Dollenmayer worked for Fox network for 19 years and recently was the EVP of on-air promotion and marketing operations. Dollenmayer guided the launch and marketing campaigns for such shows as “New Girl,” “The Following” and “The Mindy Project.”
