Just one week after announcing plans for “Better Call Saul,” a spinoff series for AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” the network is giving a similar opportunity to everyone’s favorite zombie series, “The Walking Dead.”
Starting in 2015, “The Walking Dead” will launch a companion series on AMC with a new cast, executive produced by creator Robert Kirkman and executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert. The new series will have a new storyline and no direct connection to the comic books.
Season 4 of “The Walking Dead” premieres October 13.
Read more about it at Deadline.
Brief Take: The new series will give AMC a chance to further its “Walking Dead” brand as well as giving fans a new way to tap in to Kirkman’s zombie universe.
