When it wanted to do its part to find the next American Idol, ABC affiliate WJLA Washington D.C. looked no further than its very own theme song, “Waking Up My Day,” which was composed by Stephen Arnold Music.
The Sinclair-owned station asked WJLA viewers and would-be Idol contestants to submit videos of themselves singing the song. The five winners — showcased in the video above — went to the head of the line when the show came to Annapolis, Md., in early September.
WJLA also aired individual segments featuring each of the winners and including interviews and their winning online audition.
“Waking Up My Day” is an original marketing campaign that Stephen Arnold Music offers to stations on a market-exclusive basis. The campaign features original music, video components and social-media elements.
After a long run on Fox, American Idol is returning to television this winter on ABC.
