Scripps Networks (Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel, HGTV) added several new competition series and picked up a few shows that fellow networks left behind.
Travel Channel greenlit a third season of Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan, a series that was previously on BBC America, as well as Science Channel’s An Idiot Abroad.
New pilot Relocated features professionals exploring new cities to see if a new job opportunity is right for them and their families.
Scripps will also extend its partnership with Run DMC’s Rev Run for Rev Runs Around the World, in which he will travel to faraway places with his wife and two of his children. New pilots 50/50, Five Star Secrets, Follow Your Past and Hello Goodbye will continue the network’s tradition of visiting strange, exotic, new places with experienced, or not-so-experienced, travelers.
“With over 20 new shows this year, Travel Channel is going everywhere – every state, every continent and nearly 100 countries – challenging ourselves to find new places, try things we never thought we’d try, and connect with fascinating people,” said Travel Channel President Shannon O’Neill.
Over at Food Network, there was a major increase in new shows and specials this year, relying on events to drive live viewership.
This month will welcome a spinoff, Cutthroat Kitchen: Evilicious, and the Spring Baking Championship competitions to ramp up spring programming.
May and June will see the premieres of new series American Diner Revival with Ty Pennington, Guilty Pleasures and Craziest Restaurants in America before summer menus start off with Michael Symon’s Burgers, Brew and ‘Que, Beach Eats and Southern Fried Road Trip with Bobby and Jamie Deen.
Popular franchises are expanding as well with an after-hours show for Chopped, a Cutthroat Kitchen version called Camp Cutthroat, Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition, a teenager version of Iron Chef America and a combination of Chopped and Restaurant Impossible called Chopped: Impossible.
In daytime, Food Network has added three more series for chef Giada De Laurentiis to premiere throughout the next year.
Cooking Channel welcomes the stars for celebrity cooking shows including Tia Mowry at Home, Sherri Shepherd’s Holy and Hungry, and Star Plates, which highlights celebrities and TV personalities getting lessons in cooking their favorite meals.
Specials with Haylie Duff and Patti LaBelle are also in the works for this summer, as well as a new series from YouTube personality Rosanna Pansino.
“Entertaining and engaging are at the forefront of our 2015 development plans for both Food Network and Cooking Channel,” said Brooke Johnson, president of Food Network and Cooking Channel.
