In advance of the premiere of its new limited series, The Alienist, TNT has set up an installation featuring art and costumes from the show at the shops at the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle in New York City. The exhibit opened Tuesday, Dec. 19, and runs through Jan. 5.
The series’ Gilded Age costumes were created by award-winning costume designer Michael Kaplan, who also created looks for such films as Blade Runner, Fight Club and Flashdance. The Alienist is based on a novel by Caleb Carr, and tells the story of Laszlo Kreizler (Rush’s Daniel Brühl), who treats mental pathologies and gets caught up in hunting down a ritualistic serial killer.
The exhibition, designed by Pentagram’s Abbott Miller, took inspiration from the series’ architectural settings, conjuring a sense of mystery and opacity.
The Alienist— starring Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning—premieres Monday, Jan. 22, at 9 p.m. ET/PT across TNT platforms.
