Yesterday, The Onion made a spoof video about USA Network‘s summer programming, touting the renewal of “all 90 of its current shows.” This is everything from current hits “Burn Notice” and “White Collar” but also Onion-created hits like “Royal Suits” and “Burn Collar.”
The Onion goes on to announce the upcoming combination procedural show “Beach Law,” one single show featuring all of its current series wrapped together.
In response, USA took to Facebook and helped The Onion publicize their summer lineup, saying “Onions won’t make us cry.” The Facebook page also posted a photo of the made-up “Beach Law,” from their own make-believe news source The Scallion, with a caption that said:
“Trusted news source The Scallion confirms it: Beach Law, to be added to USA Network’s summer line-up. It’ll be a splash! Comedy Welcome.”

Brief Take: USA Facebook fans loved the idea and all in all, USA Network showed the TV world how to take a laugh - and how to turn it around in true PR style.
