Syfy’s “Opposite Worlds” (trailer above) pits two groups against each other, eventually divided into the future and the past, indicated by a single wall inside a house. The future is advanced and clean, the past rustic and primitive.
The series is a new attempt by Syfy to get viewers heavily involved in their programming. “Opposite Worlds” allows viewers to vote in real time via Twitter who stays and who goes. By tweeting about a player on the show, viewers can help or hurt their Twitter Popularity Index, which results in rewards or punishments, affecting their status in the game.
The show airs Tuesday nights (premiering tonight, Jan. 21), then again as a live show on Wednesdays. After each Tuesday episode, fans vote on each week’s “Decider,” the player in the competition who gets to send someone home.
The show has been promoted on Syfy for the past few months, focusing on the fate of the players, depending on where they landed:
In its “Worlds Collide” trailer above, Syfy takes a closer look at the players’ sides of the house.
“Opposite Worlds” premieres Jan. 21 on Syfy.
