Netflix rang in 2018 with a vintage broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve from 1985—the year the show will be set—that gets severely glitchy as the teaser reveals the Upside Down is still wreaking havoc on Hawkings, Ind. in season three.

With the tagline “One summer can change everything,” key art featuring fireworks also aligns with the show’s July 4 premiere date. With previous seasons set around Christmas and Halloween, it’s clear the Independence Day theme will play out throughout the season.

The image features Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will (Noah Schnapp) looking over their shoulder at a lurking evil, as Mike (Finn Wolfhard) looks at Eleven with concern, while the others are too distracted by the fireworks to notice what’s happening.

Based on previous teasers, season three will also revolve around the town’s new Starcourt Mall, with Lucas’ (Caleb McLaughlin) strong-willed sister Erica (Priah Ferguson) stepping into a larger role. Maya Hawke (Little Women) will also join the cast as Robin, described as an alternative girl bored with her mundane day job.
