The first look at digital prequel show Stargate: Origins explores the franchise’s past, following Catherine Langford’s (Ellie Gall) early history surrounding the alien portal.

The new chapter embarks on a journey that sets young Catherine on the way to helping unlock the secrets of an ancient technology that could change the very course of humanity. When tragedy strikes, Catherine finds herself swept up in an adventure to keep the technology’s secrets out of dangerous hands.

The series will be available in 10-minute segments on MGM’s Stargate Command, a digital hub where fans can interact with the Stargate library, all the movies and TV episodes related to the franchise. The service offers a free version and a paid membership for a one-time fee of $20.

Stargate: Origins also stars former Stargate Atlantis cast member Connor Trinneer as Catherine’s father, Professor Langford. Other cast members include Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.

The series is produced by entertainment studio New Form, as well as MGM’s Digital Group. The series is directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan and written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry.

Stargate: Origins premieres February 15.
