“There’s sharks, and there’s people getting eaten by them. Any questions?”
So says the narrator of the “Sharknado 2: The Second One” featurette released by Syfy this week to celebrate its upcoming sequel.
Syfy’s social phenomenon is back this summer for a second bite, and the cabler knows not to take itself too seriously with this franchise, now taking its storm to New York. A new trailer begins with a cinematic narrator who plays up the importance of this TV event before he breaks down:
“They say lightning never strikes twice — ah, f*** it, who are we kidding?”
The featurette, “Sumnado of Sharknado,” takes the same approach, who hastily introduces key characters and subplots (like LA traffic and family drama).
“Sharknado 2: The Second One” will debut on July 30, during Syfy’s new Sharknado Week, July 26-Aug. 2 (ending just days before Discovery’s Shark Week).
