Matt LeBlanc shoots people? Is a pimp? The president? Comes back from the dead?

“There are no bad ideas” in the fifth and final season of Episodes, where LeBlanc plays a fictionalized version of himself.

Several months have passed and the game show he hosted is now a hit, but this means his years as an actor are completely forgotten as he struggles with a career roadblock and considers his next move.

Meanwhile writers Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig) are equally miserable. With Sean’s ex-partner (Bruce Mackinnon) in charge of their new series The Opposite of Us, they endure his lack of humor and talent and as he slowly destroys their show.

Episodes also stars John Pankow, Kathleen Rose Perkins and Mircea Monroe. It’s created, written and executive produced by David Crane (Friends) and Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You), who also directed the entire final season. It’s also executive produced by Jimmy Mulville through his Hat Trick production company.

Since its debut in 2011, the show has received 10 Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. In its first season, LeBlanc won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series—Comedy or Musical. Crane and Klarik also earned two Writers Guild of America Award nominations for New Series and Episodic Comedy.

Episodes premieres Sunday, August 20 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
