Created by rock climber Chris Sharma, actor and avid climber Jason Momoa and his production company On the Roam, and Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), HBO Max’s The Climb challenges ten amateur climbers to a rigorous series of mental and physical feats in some of the world’s most scenic locations.
With Sharma and world-renowned climber Megan Martin as hosts and mentors, each episode tasks the contestants with a new climbing discipline – from deep-water soloing over the cliffs of Majorca, Spain, to traditional climbing on unsteady sandstone in Wadi Rum, Jordan. With $100,000 and a sponsorship with clothing partner prAna on the line, The Climb showcases some of nature’s most intimidating ascents to crown the best amateur climber.
The series is directed by Christopher Malloy, Steven Holleran, Brett Lowell and Scott Duncan. It’s produced by Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Erin Gamble, Matt Shanfield, Momoa, Brian Mendoza, James Mendoza, Sharma, Fred Pichel and Jonathon Resteck.
The Climb debuts on HBO Max on Thursday, January 12 with three episodes, followed by three more episodes on Thursday, January 19 and concluding with the final two episodes on Thursday, January 26.
