As The CW moves under the purview of TV station group Nexstar and away from its previous owners of Warner Bros. and CBS, the DC Universe series that have formed the cornerstone of the network’s programming strategy are concluding. The Flash, which was the network’s second DC show after Arrow, starts its final run on Wednesday, February 8. The Flash, starring Grant Gustin, premiered on The CW in 2014. This will be the sho’w ninth and final season.

In the above trailer , Barry (aka The Flash) preps for one last fight to save the world as superheroes tend to do. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) tells him, “You’ve been through a lot in nine years, and I’m very proud of you.”

Season 9 picks up one week following Team Flash’s battle against Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh) in the season 8 finale, where they definitely defeated Reverse Flash. But in the final season, Barry and Team Flash will again be pushed to their limits in order to save Central City one final time.

The shortened final season, consisting of only 13 episodes and currently in production in Vancouver, will premiere Wednesday, February 8, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
