SXSW can sometimes be overwhelming and exhausting, but not to fear, FX is here.
Beginning March 7 in Austin, FX’s new vampire outbreak series is offering SXSW attendees a place to put their feet up in with “The Strain” Transformation Station. The station includes 10 rejuvenation pods, complete with tablets loaded with exclusive content from the upcoming thriller.
The station will be open from noon until 6 p.m. every day through March 10, and it even comes with a hostess who can book power nap appointments onsite (though appointments can also be booked online now). The station’s sitting lounge also has “The Strain” novels and comic books as well as “The Strain” Vaccine (an FX-branded energy shot).
Guillermo del Toro’s “The Strain,” FX’s vampirism drama starring Corey Stoll, debuts this July.
Brief Take: SXSW is a perfect marketing outlet for a high-concept series such as “The Strain,” using the confab’s reach to connect to thousands of fans on the ground.
