France TV started airing this simple but effective spot just after Bastille Day on July 14 and the French soccer team’s World Cup victory on July 15, offering the idea that “unity through diversity gives more strength to any nation or social entity,” according to the channel.

Using only a choir singing the Turtles’ “Happy Together” to illustrate the point, the singers gradually depart until only one ill-at-ease man is left softly singing. He is relieved when everyone returns to finish out the song at full volume.

Says France TV: “This film was conceived to be simple and straight to the point while avoiding the usual patronizing pitfalls in which one can fall when promoting such subjects.”
