According to a post on Deadline Hollywood last night, founder and editor-in-chief Nikki Finke will be leaving the site after months of speculation.
Deadline Hollywood was founded in 2006 and acquired by Penske Media Corp. in 2009, which also owns Variety.
The announcement on Deadline, made by the site’s film and TV heads Michael Fleming Jr. and Nellie Andreeva, reads:
“Despite attempts by all to have it go otherwise, Nikki Finke will no longer be leading Deadline Hollywood, and she will not be writing weekend box office or filing stories going forward. This is an emotional and painful parting of the ways for us. “

Brief Take: Nikki Finke built her own personal brand as well as Deadline’s when it launched in 2006. Now she has to rebuild it at nikkifinke.com, but with the advantage of already being very well-known in Hollywood and beyond.
