Ghost stories around the fire are about to get real in Freeform’s latest series Dead of Summer.

Set in the late 1980s, the show centers of a group of counselors at Camp Stillwater whose idyllic summer of fun takes a dark turn when an ancient evil mythology awakens.

“They say if you stare long enough, the water will stare right back at you,” Jessie (Paulina Singer) says in the trailer before diving in for a night swim as the rest follow. That’s when Amy (Elizabeth Lail, Once Upon a Time) finds a dead body floating in the lake. It’s clear this is not the experience camp counselors had in mind before the younger kids arrive.

From Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (Once Upon a Time), Dead of Summer premieres Tuesday, June 28 at 9 p.m.
