Last we saw them, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his fierce band of vikings had just successfully sacked Paris, and were on their way back to Kattegat. But they left Ragnar’s wishy-washy brother Rollo behind, and his choices are suspect.

For season four, History is teasing plenty of betrayal, as indicated just by the key art (above). And the season-four teaser (above) also makes it clear that there’s going to be some intra-family disharmony when next we join the Vikings.

Below, History offers two intense character portraits of the series’ leading man and lady, both of whom make clear that they are willing to die for power and let the Gods decide their fates.

As Lagartha (Katheryn Winnick) says: “Victory or Valhalla.”
