YouTube, with help from creative agency Cause + Effect, gives ESPN’s 30 for 30 treatment to the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament, the story of which is chronicled in the beloved ‘80s film, The Karate Kid.

YouTube has turned the story of what happened to those characters 35 years later into its premium series, Cobra Kai, starring the movie’s original stars, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka.

Looking back on the key moment that allowed Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) to triumph over Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), the 30 for 30 spot asks some key questions: Was Daniel LaRusso’s 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament victory legit? Or was his famous crane kick really just a dirty move? Should Johnny have swept the leg?

Watch and decide for yourself.

Season 2 of Cobra Kai drops April 24 on YouTube Premium.
