Bright young graduates find themselves competing in the cutthroat world of London finance in HBO and HBO Max’s new eight-episode original series, Industry.

From first-time creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the show gives an inside view of this ambition- and drug-fueled world from the perspective of American Harper Stern (Myha’la Herrold). Besides delving into the effects of extreme on-the-job pressure, Industry also examines issues of gender, race, class and privilege.

Besides Herrold, the show also stars Marisa Abela, Harry Lawtey, David Jonsson and Nabhaan Rizwan as “The Graduates” and Conor MacNeill, Freya Mavor, Will Tudor and Ken Leung as “Management.”

Industry is created and executive produced by Down and Kay, and executive produced by Jane Tranter, Lachlan MacKinnon, Ryan Rasmussen, David P. Davis and by Ben Irving for BBC. It’s co-executive produced by Ed Lilly and produced by Lee Thomas. It’s produced for HBO/BBC by Bad Wolf and writers include Konrad Kay, Mickey Down, Sam H. Freeman and Kate Verghese. Directors include Lena Dunham, Ed Lilly, Tinge Krishnan and Mary Nighy.

Industry premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Nov. 9.
