Xfinity debuted a five-minute horror film, titled The Neighborhood that successfully spooks out viewers while promoting the brand’s home security camera.
The tale centers on an old mask made out of a burlap sack that’s passed around a suburban neighborhood, and gets inside the mind of those who posses it. Police investigating the incident have a multi-screen view of the chaos that unfolds.
The Neighborhood was developed by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and written and directed by Dante Ariola of production company MJZ.
The Comcast cable brand is not the only one exploring short-form Halloween marketing content.
Hulu’s free Huluween content combines a short-form six-part anthology series called The House with virtual reality videos, interviews with horror movie stars and creators, and long spooky scenes perfect for putting on in the background during a Halloween party.

Fox and candy company Mars also teamed up for four two-minute “Bite Size Horror” films that have been running during commercial breaks.
