When season two of Starz’ Counterpart opens, Howard Prime (J.K. Simmons) and Howard Alpha (also Simmons) find themselves living in each other’s separate but parallel dimensions, and the longer they stay, the more they become like their other self.

Howard Prime — the more decisive and violent of the two — is going to gentle Howard Alpha’s job and living in his home with his wife (Olivia Williams), while Howard Alpha is stuck in a mysterious place known as Echo, and paying a price for not being the aggressor that his alter-ego is.

James Cromwell and Betty Gabriel join the cast in season two, which includes Harry Lloyd, Nicholas Pinnock, Nazanin Boniadi and Sara Serraiocco.

Justin Marks created Counterpart and he also serves as executive producer and who will make his directorial debut on the series this season. The series also is executive produced by Gary Gilbert and Gilbert Films, Jordan Horowitz, Morten Tyldum, as well as Anonymous Content’s Keith Redmon and Bard Dorros. MRC produces and Sony Pictures Television distributes.

Counterpart returns to Starz on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
