Like its Canadian sibling Schitt’s Creek, Letterkenny started as a small sitcom that has grown into a cult favorite on a streaming service in the U.S.—in this case, Hulu.

The show had even humbler roots than Dan and Eugene Levy’s comedy about a wealthy family that falls on hard times and relocates to a small town, having gotten its start as a web series. That series, titled Letterkenny Problems, was picked up by Canadian premium cable and streaming network Crave and began airing in Canada in February 2016. Hulu began streaming it in July 2018.

When season nine picks up, the gang, led by Wayne (Jared Keeso) has just prevailed in a fight against Dierks (Tyler Hynes) and his friends. Wayne’s sister, Katy (Michelle Mylett), is on a dating bender after breaking up with her two boyfriends Reilly (Dylan Playfair) and Jonesy (Andrew Herr). Even when drunk, which is often, the denizens of Letterkenny keep up an unrelenting patter of puns, as the above trailer highlights.

Letterkenny was created and produced by Keeso, with help from Jacob Tierney, who appears as Pastor Glen in the show.

Season nine of the series premiered Dec. 26 on the streaming service. For those who haven’t seen the series, a recap is below:
