Next week is the annual PromaxBDA Station Summit in Las Vegas, the TV industry’s only gathering of networks, station groups, syndicators and local broadcasters.

In addition to wide-ranging discussions of the issues, trends and emerging business opportunities driving success in local television, here’s what the PromaxBDA community can expect next week at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas:

Tuesday 6/24

Tuesday is network affiliate day at Station Summit, with the Big Four broadcast networks holding all-day meetings with their affiliate stations. Prior to that, everyone will come together for a breakfast session with host, author and consultant Shelly Palmer on how best to promote content in a connected world.

The day concludes with a welcome party at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat hosted by Mixpo.

Wednesday 6/25

Studio Day at Station Summit kicks off with a morning exercise session at the Mirage pool featuring a few surprises as attendees wake up their bodies and minds.

Simon Mainwairing, founder of We First, hosts the first session of the day on “Social As Savior, and Other Steps for Cash-Strapped Stations to Thrive.” Mainwairing will lead a discussion on ideas that local stations can put into action to capitalize on their need to grow business in a resource-strapped environment.

Then station GMs and local marketing teams will get a chance to meet with their syndicated-programming partners to discuss positioning and strategy for the coming year.

Telemundo affiliates will also meet with the network on Wednesday morning.

Thursday 6/26

A day packed with sessions kicks off with Stacey Lynn Schulman, EVP of strategy and analytics at Katz Media Group, discussing “Localism in the Age of the Global Village.” Schulman will discuss how local stations can become “community command centers” that create meaningful connections in an increasingly global world.

Graeme Newell, president of 602 Communications, will then give a talk on how the latest neuroscience is driving the next generation of TV news promotion.

Twitter’s Head of TV, Fred Graver, also will be on hand to talk about how “Social TV is Local TV,” and Bill Butler, programming and promotion VP at Sinclair Broadcast Group, will close out the morning with 10 low/no-cost strategies for getting something for nothing.

But the highlight of Thursday is the 2014 PromaxBDALocal Awards Luncheon hosted by Loni Love, host of “The Real.” The annual awards honor the most creative and innovative marketing at the local level in the past year.

CW affiliates will also meet with the network Thursday afternoon.
