If Sunday’s premiere is any indication, zombies are going to still be very, very good to AMC this year.

A record-breaking 16.1 million viewers tuned in to see the return of “The Walking Dead” on Sunday, delivering a staggering 8.2 rating in the primetime demographic of 18-49-year-old viewers (10.4 million people). Those killer numbers put the AMC show at the top of the heap, outdrawing all other shows—including sports—in the demo so far this Fall.

In fact when you combine all the other network Sunday night dramas—“Once Upon a Time,” “Revenge,” “Betrayal,” “The Good Wife,” and “The Mentalist"—“The Walking Dead” still beats them all.

The post-show “Talking Dead,” also recorded a series best 5.1 million viewers—including 3.3 million in the demo.
