Sony’s new cloud-based TV service will carry 22 Viacom networks at launch, marking the first time the cable company has made its content available to a web-based live TV and VOD service.

BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Nicktoons, Spike, TV Land, VH1, BET Gospel, Centric, Logo, CMT Pure Country, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, mtvU, Palladia, TeenNick, VH1 Classic, and VH1 Soul will be among the networks included when the Sony service launches.

By sending its networks up to Sony’s cloud, Viacom is making a play for young, tech-savvy viewers who are more likely to seek out the company’s portfolio of offerings on online, on-demand platforms, such as Sony’s cloud-based service.

Sony’s subscribers will also be able to access Viacom’s TV Everywhere web portals.
