“The crime you know … the story you don’t,” according to USA’s new trailer for Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.
USA set a premiere date of February 27 at 10 p.m. for the true crime anthology series that digs into the 2006 murders of the two legendary rappers Tupac Shakur, played by Marcc Rose, and The Notorious B.I.G., played by Wavyy Jonez.
The 10-episodes chronicle the dual police investigations of Detective Russell Poole (Jimmi Simpson), and Detective Greg Kading (Josh Duhamel). Former LAPD Detective Kading will serve as co-executive producer.
Bokeem Woodbine also plays Officer Daryn Dupree, and talked at the NBCUniversal Holiday Press Junket in November about how being part of the series has brought back memories of the rappers he loved as a child.
“There are times when working on the show, I get the shivers,” he said. His role centering on the investigations has also provided a certain amount of intel that the average person likely doesn’t have, which he’s used to help channel his character and emotions.
“Our job is to convey that sense of revelation,” he said.
Anthony Hemingway (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) serves as director and executive producer along with Mark Taylor through their joint production company. Kyle Long (Suits) is writing the pilot and will also executive produce. The limited series is from Universal Cable Productions.
