USA Network focused most of its Comic-Con efforts on new event series, “Dig,” with a panel, exclusive trailer premiere and an interactive scavenger hunt that sent Comic-Conners all over San Diego’s Gaslamp district seeking clues.
“Dig,” which is expected to premiere this fall, comes from “Homeland"’s Gideon Raff and “Heroes"’ Tim Kring. Those two appeared on a Comic-Con panel Thursday at the Indigo Ballroom at San Diego’s Bayfront Hilton, along with pilot director SJ Clarkson and writer Carol Barbee. Stars David Costabile (“Breaking Bad,” “Suits”) and Alison Sudol appeared in person, while star Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter,” “Awake”) Skyped in. Co-star Anne Heche did not appear. Reza Aslan, series consultant and New York Times best-selling author, moderated.
“Dig” stars Isaacs as Peter Connelly, an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem, who, while investigating a murder uncovers a conspiracy 2,000 years in-the-making.
In the show’s spirit, USA set up a scavenger hunt for Comic-Con attendees. Attendees who want to participate first follow DigonUSA on the Snapchat app, where they can see short videos to get them started. Some 40 “Dig” symbols are hidden, some in plain sight, around downtown, and those on caps, t-shirts and pedicabs also count.

Some of the clues came and went rather quickly.

On Friday, up to 40 participants will be invited to an exclusive meet-and-greet where they can meet Kring.
USA also is offering a 12-episode prequel on Wattpad, which follows Peter (Isaacs) as he arrives in Jersualem and begins investigating a cyber-heist. The 12 episodes will lead up to the series premiere.
Created and executive produced by Kring and Raff, “Dig” is from Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and was developed by Israels Keshet, in association with Gail Berman (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) of Tecumseh Productions and Gene Stein (“Deception”). Keshet’s Avi Nir (“Homeland”), Alon Shtruzman and Karni Ziv also serve as executive producers.
Attendees in the room also got the first chance to see a new trailer for the show.
The show’s pilot was shot in Jerusalem but the turmoil there of late has forced production to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where “Breaking Bad” was shot.
