At what some attendees dubbed the most entertaining presentation at this year’s Upfronts, Turner unveiled a series of pranks and jokes to the crowd. The hi-jinks began almost immediately, with Turner Entertainment president Steve Koonin rolling out a series of stunt doubles wearing Koonin wigs, who rode tricycles, juggles and break-danced. From there, things only got sillier, with Will Ferrell chiming in via video to present himself as the head of Turner thanks to a deal that saw his Funny or Die website buying the company (in actuality, Turner has held a minority stake in Funny or Die since last year.) He also mentioned that Charles Barkley would appear in every single TBS show this summer. Conan O’Brien also made an appearance to announce a new sponsor for his show: a hilariously useless product called the Rublight.

Along the way, Turner also slipped in a few sincere developments, such as its Upwave health and wellness content initiative, and its resolution to stream all TBS and TNT programming for cable and satellite TV subscribers.

Meanwhile, over at The CW’s Upfront presentation, serious drama was the name of the game. The network will drastically mix up its coming schedule to make room for a slew of new dramas: “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off “The Originals”; “The Tomorrow People,” another superhero show for the channel; the historical drama “Reign,” and the “Sex and the City” prequel “The Carrie Diaries.”
