Former Facebook executive Gap Kim has been named Twitter’s head of global marketing.

Kim succeeds Christine Cuoco, who will lead the social network’s newly established global brand and content marketing team. Kim will lead the team responsible for marketing the value of Twitter’s advertising solutions, reporting to Twitter’s VP of marketing, Brad Ramsey.

“There’s no platform more embedded in everyday culture and what’s happening than Twitter, and in this day and age, that is a critical opportunity for marketers to make meaningful connections with influential audiences to grow their business and brand,” Kim said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to join the Twitter team and find new ways to bring Twitter’s value to life for all businesses, big and small, across the world.”

Kim comes from the Facebook-owned WhatsApp platform, where he developed and led the app’s business product marketing strategy, brand and growth.

Prior to Facebook, Kim led digital adoption and growth initiatives at Google in the Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asia regions.

“Gap has a track record of excellence, and we are thrilled to bring his talent to Twitter,” Ramsey said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing his impact across the globe.”
