CBS Corp. is using its new acquisition TVGN as a secondary platform for introducing audiences to new shows on its flagship CBS broadcast network and The CW.

Four different binge-watching marathons of freshman CW and CBS dramas are on tap for January, indicating the company sees TVGN as prime platform for audience development.

CBS brass are hoping the marathons will offer a new avenue for fans to discover the shows ahead of their midseason returns, and get existing fans to reconnect with the show.

“The Tomorrow People” marathon starts Saturday, January 4 at 2pm ET/PT on TVGN. New episodes return to The CW on January 15 at 9pm ET/PT.

“The Hostages” begins its marathon the following day, Sunday January 5, at 1pm ET/PT. The binge events leads into the two-hour season finale of the freshman drama on CBS at 9pm ET/PT on Monday, January 6.

The following week it’s “The Originals” getting the marathon treatment, beginning at 2pm ET/PT on January 11. New episodes return to The CW starting January 14 at 8pm ET/PT.

And “Reign” gets its TVGN marathon starting Saturday, January 18 at 2pm ET/PT, with new episodes on The CW starting January 23 at 9pm ET/PT.

Brief Take: CBS is using new acquisition TVGN as a marketing tool for its other networks, with binge-watching at the center of this strategy.
