Just when midseason premieres start up, the DVRs are filling up fast yet again with new debuts as well. Starting the new year on a strong note, January 2016 brings the long-awaited Sherlock special, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, before turning PBS fans’ attention to the last season of Downton Abbey.
But the month has much more in store, with NBC comedies Superstore and Telenovela trying to turn things around for the network before Jennifer Lopez joins with her Shades of Blue. Then teens, millennials and Becomers will be excited to see MTV’s Shannara Chronicles and ABC Family (now Freeform’s) Shadowhunters.
That is, of course, before the biggest events of the month, Fox’s X-Files return and its live musical Grease toward the end of the month.
