The return of Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black” and Fox’s upcoming Batman origins drama, “Gotham,” are a huge hit with YouTubers.
Two of the top 10 most-viewed trailers of the past few months (a list typically populated by movies and video games) are for TV shows, according to TheWrap. Between April and June, the most-viewed trailer on YouTube was for the video game “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” which accounted for more than 20 million views on the video site. But not far behind was “Orange is the New Black” and “Gotham,” and this doesn’t even account or fan-made or ripped versions of trailers posted by someone other than the original media company.
“Orange is the New Black’s” two-minute trailer that debuted in April was used as Netflix’s official trailer for the show’s second season, and has since been seen more than 8.5 million times:
