Taking advantage of the breadth of Turner’s extensive portfolio, the media company has partnered with prolific producer Mark Burnett and Intel to find the next big thing in connected devices and create accompanying content across Turner’s multi-platform portfolio.

TBS’ America’s Greatest Makers will kick off in 2016, the three companies announced Tuesday at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco.

The series builds on the success of Intel’s Make it Wearable competition that focused on personal technology, now promoting its latest hardware, Curie. This time around, competitors will use Intel Curie, a “highly integrated hardware module that can power a range of wearable and smart connected consumer devices,” according to Turner’s statement announcing the partnership.

Burnett, the executive producer behind TV hits The Voice and Survivor, is set to spearhead America’s Greatest Makers, where inventors and innovators will be asked to create the next big breakthrough in connected devices.

“This is much more than just a linear TV series,” said Burnett in a statement. “This is the next evolution of storytelling, told simultaneously across many platforms and in many different ways. This is the future. Intel drove the past from ‘inside,’ and now we will watch it drive the future from both ‘inside AND OUTSIDE!’”

The competition will begin with digital initiatives across Turner’s portfolio of brands before moving on to the series itself, which will showcase the semifinalists. The semifinals will air on TBS, but be accompanied by shareable content across Turner’s TV brands including TNT, Adult Swim, truTV, HLN, CNN and Bleacher Report. Each brand is tasked with releasing content in their own unique voice that present similar lifestyle or technological innovations that resonate with each platform’s audience.

Turner’s partnership also includes Sociology, its new marketing tool that lets brands engage various key sectors of Turner’s social media audience.

“This first-of-its-kind partnership starts with a compelling content idea, then uses Turner’s capabilities to distribute that storytelling at scale, across all of our premium properties and platforms,” said Dan Riess, EVP of integrated marketing and branded content for Turner Broadcasting Ad Sales. “As we embark on this new partnership with Intel and Mark Burnett, we have the opportunity to encourage innovative spirit, empower and inspire viewers to share content, reach the right audiences and, in the end, drive business results that matter.”
