David Levy, president of sales, distribution and sports for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., today was promoted to President of TBS, effective immediately.
Levy, who has spent more than a quarter of a century with the company, adds oversight of Turner’s domestic entertainment and animation and young adults networks and business portfolios to his current role overseeing advertising sales, affiliate sales and sports units.
Levy, based in New York, will continue to lead advertising sales strategy and operations, as well as affiliate sales, marketing promotion, interactive television and technology business development, for Turner’s domestic news, entertainment, animation and young adults networks and businesses.
In addition, he still maintains oversight of the company’s sports programming acquisitions, production, marketing, league relations and sports ad sales, including the alliance with CBS Sports regarding the joint production, sales and marketing of the NCAA Div. 1 Men’s Basketball tournament.
The portfolio of networks and brands under Levy’s auspices include CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang and Turner Classic Movies. Turner has sports alliances that include MLB, NBA, PGA and NASCAR (through the 2014 season).
“I have invested more than 25 years in our company,” David Levy said in a statement. “That cumulative experience affords me a unique understanding of our capabilities and a vision for how I’ll work with Steve Koonin (president of Turner Entertainment Networks) and Stu Snyder (president and COO for Turner Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media) and the great entertainment and animation networks teams, and with our colleagues in the revenue and sports units, to continue to evolve and grow Turner.”
