With more than 20 years of experience as a commercial director, designer and editor, Troika/Mission Group has hired Carsten Becker as creative director.

Becker will work out of the global brand consultancy and advertising agency’s Los Angeles group office. His work spans advertising, theatrical main titles, branding, digital, broadcast packaging and experiential marketing, and he’s worked with many major entertainment, sports and consumer goods and services brands throughout his career, including Adidas, Sprint, Microsoft, Amazon Studios, Disney, ESPN, Google, HBO, Sony, and Visa.

“Carsten is a great addition to our team of creative industry leaders,” said Dan Pappalardo, President of Troika L.A., in a statement. “He brings the both creative firepower and executional versatility, which we believe are essential in today’s omnichannel marketplace.”

Becker’s experience has its roots in cinematography, which he studied at SFOF in Berlin, Germany, and he has continued to focus on emotive storytelling and visual innovation. He has a Master’s Degree from the American Film Institute and regularly teaches design and animation workshops at the California Institute of the Arts.

Prior to joining Troika, he worked at a variety leading creative agencies including Possible, Prologue, Imaginary Forces and Ignition Creative. He was a key contributor in designing film title sequences for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, the Mission: Impossible series, Snow White and the Huntsman and five visionary sequences of the film Across the Universe. He’s directed spots for GMC, Amazon, Red Bull and Honda, and has created opens for ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

Becker credits his work to his continual curiosity and enthusiasm for integrating different mediums and weaving together story, character, and emotion on every one of his projects—with inspiration coming from stories, music, street art, modern dance, and pop culture.

“I’ve always had great respect for Troika’s work,” said Becker, “and while we’ll continue to provide the quality and trust that clients have come to know them for, I also think that now is the perfect time to bring something unexpected to the market. It’s all very exciting.”
