There’s five times more social chatter on Facebook around television than on any other social network combined, according to a new study from Trendrr, which had access to Facebook’s data to compile this study.

Trendrr looked at data from May 13-19 to analyze social activity based around TV programming. Facebook users tended to chatter around broadcast television more than any other platform, with seven times as much social chatter taking place on Facebook than on other social networks, such as Twitter, GetGlue or Viggle. Spanish-language content also appeared to be much more concentrated on Facebook.

Surprisingly, even live events, such as the NBA Playoffs, which seem to lend themselves well to Twitter, also showed higher numbers on Facebook.

Brief Take: Perhaps TV marketers should take an even closer look at taking advantage of Facebook, which seems to be the online hang out for TV fans.
