January was all about history and news in the wake of the historic presidential election and inauguration of Donald Trump as the United States’ 45th president.

Several spots looked back at history as a way to understand recent events, while news programs shined up their looks as they prepared to cover an administration that considers the media “the opposition.”

January’s best-performing spot, “This is History,” (above) came from 2C Creative and highlighted History’s recent graphic redesign with the thin, red line as the throughline. The piece used a long quote from President Ronald Reagan to remind us while “so much is changing, so much endures.”
