The television industry has undergone watershed changes over the past few years – and the National Association of Television Program Executives has evolved to respond to - and reflect – all those changes. If you create, develop or monetize content (or technology that improves access to it): then you need to be at the biggest television market in North America this January in Miami.
This huge annual event is organized by the global, non-profit trade association of the same name. Akin to a television-industry-specific Chamber of Commerce, NATPE’s staff, board members and committee volunteers work year-round to coordinate the market floor exhibitions, educational series and networking opportunities that kick off each new year of TV business. You should be there, too.
1) Sell Your Show
NATPE is the global marketplace, attracting 1,100 content buyers from all around the world.
2) Network
Meet program development and acquisition executives from TV station groups, broadcast, cable, satellite and Internet networks; home entertainment (OTT) distributors, advertising brand managers, bankers, new media producers, television and new media stars. From Legends to the next generation of up and comers, more than 5,000 global industry leaders and innovators in content creation, cross-platform production and distribution, advertising, marketing and business development will be there.
A searchable list of all the buyers, attendees and press is available here.
3) Learn from 200 Terrific Speakers
Lionsgate’s Kevin Beggs and Facebook’s Matt Jacobson are just two of the many high-level executives who have been tapped to deliver keynote addresses for the new educational tracks. Senior executives from broadcast, cable, OTT, social media, gaming, music and more also will be on hand to share their experiences and insights, discuss creative and technological challenges and collaborations, and map out their visions for the future.
4) Get an Education with Three New Tracks
NATPE Music Track:
—Keynote: Paul Williams, iconic composer and President and Chairman of ASCAP
—Master Class: Emilio Estefan, 19-time Grammy Award-winning producer: “How to Navigate the Music Industry”
NATPE Scripted Track:
—Master Class: Modern Family‘s Steve Levitan: “Comedy Writing at Its Best”
—Master Class: Morgan Wandell, Amazon Studios’ head of drama series: “How to Thrive in the Scripted Market”
5) Get More Education: Attend Master Classes
NATPE’s Master Class series offers an unparalleled opportunity to attend a variety of intimate and interactive sessions with trend-defining media industry leaders. Participate in unique conversations regarding current business models, strategies and best practices. These exclusive sessions give attendees immediate access to best-in-class creatives, executives, producers and brands that are at the cutting edge of global media across all platforms. This limited attendance program is a standout “must-see” series at NATPE this year.
6) Celebrate NATPE’s 14th Annual Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards
Brandon Tartikoff was one of the greats in our industry and one of the most beloved. This award was created in his honor to recognize extraordinary passion, leadership, independence and vision in the process of creating television programming evoking the spirit of Tartikoff’s generosity.
This year, NATPE is honoring Dana Walden and Gary Newman, co-chairs and CEOs of Fox Television Group; Susanne Daniels, global head of original content for YouTube; Randy Falco, president and CEO, Univision Communications; Josh Sapan, president and CEO, AMC Networks and actress, producer and director Eva Longoria. Natalie Morales, West Coast anchor of NBC’s Today and co-host of Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live will host the night’s gala awards ceremony.
