TiVo‘s iPad app has added a What to Watch Now feature, which gives recommendations on live TV viewing options based on the user’s preferences. On top of its recorded recommendations, TiVo gives you a list of programming that is live for the user to watch now: sports, prime time, movies and more.

It might not seem revolutionary, but it’s interesting to note that this is one more step in the direction of bridging the gap between live TV and recorded content. Instead of avoiding each other, perhaps live TV programmers and DVRs can start to work together.

What’s next? A DVR encouraging a fan to watch their show live instead of waiting for later?
