ABC’s popular TGIT line-up, composed of Shonda Rhimes’ primetime soaps, is partnering with Time Inc. to put those shows across three of its pop-culture centric magazines: Entertainment Weekly, Essence and People.

“The powerful collaboration of EW, Essence and People provides an audience reach of more than 116 million to celebrate the TGIT season premieres of the incredibly popular Shondaland programming. Like these three Time Inc. brands, the high-quality storytelling of Shondaland is a cultural force,” said Norman Pearlstine, Chief Content Officer, Time Inc., in a statement.

The line-up’s new season premieres Thursday, Sept. 24. Grey’s Anatomy opens its 12th season, the first without Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd) at 8 p.m. Scandal, starring Kerry Washington, debuts its fifth season at 9 p.m. How to Get Away with Murder— starring Viola Davis, who is nominated for an Emmy this year—premieres season two at 10 p.m.

(Note for Gladiators: ABC is counting down the days until Scandal’s premiere with this calendar.)

Each magazine will feature a spread with one of the show’s casts and Rhimes, with the photos shot during ABC’s upfronts last spring. All three magazines will then co-host an all-star event presented by Toyota in Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 26.

In addition, EW will run a roundtable discussion with Rhimes and each of the shows’ leading ladies and will offer four different covers, which hit newsstands on Friday, Sept. 4. People’s feature story also will run on Sept. 4, while Essence will have six different covers debuting on Sept. 10.
