When you join the Cody family “you’re protected … until you’re prey.”
It’s a message that will play out when TNT’s new original series Animal Kingdom premieres June 7 at 9 p.m.
The series features 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Finn Cole), who after his mother dies moves in with Southern California relatives who are part of a crime ring run by matriarch Janine “Smurf” Cody (Ellen Barkin), her right-hand man “Baz” (Scott Speedman) and her three other sons.
“We never set out to hurt anybody,” Barkin says in the trailer. “We’re not greedy. But sometimes one of these rules gets broken.”
The premiere episode of Animal Kingdom debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday, followed by a Q&A with cast members and executives.
