Finally, some answers—and, as always, more questions—on The Walking Dead.
Fans were a bit more tense than usual this season on The Walking Dead with several episodes flying by with no news of the fate of a certain beloved character, but AMC’s hit delivered as usual with its midseason finale on Sunday.
The season six midseason finale was seen by 14 million viewers, with 8.9 million adults 18-49, down just 5 percent from last year. That makes Sunday’s episode the second-highest rated midseason finale for the show since the record-breaking fifth season.
Last year’s winter finale episode even beat out Sunday Night Football, but this year the sports night won out over AMC, pulling in 25 million viewers to The Walking Dead’s 14 million.
Introducing a well-known character from the comics through a bonus prologue, The Walking Dead ended its Part 1 to season six on a high note, which also gave Into the Badlands a ratings bump as AMC waited until the new series’ first commercial break to air the sneak peek scene (below).
Part 2 of The Walking Dead’s sixth season will return to AMC on Sunday, Feb. 14.

Brief Take: Devoted fans of The Walking Dead have had a frustrating season so far, but a promising new character should bring a whole new struggle to the show that somehow manages to shock and surprise viewers season after season.
