How will The Conners move on without Roseanne?
It’s a question ABC has started to answer with a promo teasing the Roseanne spinoff featuring the family living life without it’s matriarch.
ABC cancelled Roseanne in spring 2018 following a racist tweet from star Roseanne Barr. Although her absence isn’t addressed in the trailer, it does show Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. grappling with topics such as parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America.
And it maintains the sitcom’s classic tone.
“I thought we should talk about a game plan for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas,” says “Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) in the spot.
“I say we follow the Conner tradition,” responds Darlene (Sara Gilbert). “Spend every dime we have on Halloween, and then we have nothing to be thankful for or buy gifts with.”
The Conners premieres October 16 on ABC.
