In the much-anticipated third season of Apple TV Plus’ Ted Lasso, AFC Richmond has managed to get promoted but how the team will perform now that it’s gotten there remains to be seen. Meanwhile, former assistant coach Nate (Nick Mohammed), now known throughout the UK as “wonder kid,” has turned his back on Richmond and gone on to work for the team’s arch-rival, West Ham United, owned by Rebecca’s ex-husband, Rupert (Anthony Head).

Nate’s departure has opened the door for Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) to step up as assistant coach, alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Head Coach Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) himself.

Elsewhere, Keeley (Juno Temple) is focused on supporting the team, while dealing with the pressures of opening her own PR agency, and team owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is fixated on defeating Rupert.

The series also stars Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris and James Lance.

Besides starring, Sudeikis co-created and executive produces the series. Sudeikis, who’s won the Emmy for best actor twice for this role, is joined by Bill Lawrence via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content. Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Bill Wrubel also serve as executive producers, along with Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Jane Becker and Jamie Lee also serve as executive producers. Goldstein, also a two-time Emmy winner for best supporting actor, also serves as writer and co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.

With an official trailer set to the Rolling Stones’ iconic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” the two-time Emmy winner for best comedy readies to serve up its brand of good-hearted comedy in season three, premiering Wednesday, March 15 on Apple TV Plus.
