Viacom presented one of the most anticipated stars of the week at TCA with Comedy Central’s new host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah.

Noah, who performed a standup set Tuesday night in Los Angeles for the TCA crowd, joined Viacom Wednesday morning to speak about his hosting gig starting Sept. 28.

Noah says that one of the lessons Jon Stewart taught him leading up to his hosting debut is that he and the show are “in the comedy business” – not the news business.

He added that the format of the show will remain the same when he takes over, but the perspective will shift a bit, with Noah being younger than Stewart, and growing up in South Africa in a very different environment.

He also responded to comedian Mark Maron’s recent WTF podcast when Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac recounted a time when he confronted Stewart about what he thought was an offensive impression of Herman Cain. Noah says he encourages those types of confrontations.

“That’s what the writers room is for,” he said. “You’re supposed to have that fight.”

Comedy Central also announced that The Daily Show, now a 20-time Emmy winner, is keeping its executive team of Steve Bodow, Jen Flanz, Tim Greenberg, Jill Katz and Adam Lowitt after Stewart’s departure Aug. 6.

“Steve, Jen, Tim, Jill and Adam have been key architects of The Daily Show’s success, and we are excited that they will continue at the core of the creative team working with Trevor Noah as the show evolves,” said Michele Ganeless, president of Comedy Central. “They remain committed to delivering the smart, insightful comedy that has become the hallmark of The Daily Show.”

MTV, who presented new series Todrick and JaRule’s reality show Follow the Rules, also announced Wednesday that its horror series Scream has been renewed for season two.

The show, based on the series of films starring Neve Campbell, just aired its fifth episode Tuesday averages roughly 1.4 million viewers each week, according to Nielsen. Though the first season will end revealing the identity of the killer, MTV says it’s prepared to follow a new format for season two.
